Shawna loves this fun and simple Thanksgiving-themed turkey fine motor game for kids! How many pom poms can your child stuff into your turkey?
Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and it makes me think about spending special time with my family, being thankful for all we have and of course, turkeys.
But being a hands-on mom, I wanted to make this fun activity pull double duty. Of course, it has to have a smidge of learning involved!

To build your own turkey fine motor game, you’ll need:
- pom poms
- orange/yellow/red construction paper
- large googly eyes
- empty plastic bottle
- container (I used a glass baking dish)
- tweezers
- glue gun
To collect all the supplies needed for the activity, I sent my oldest on the hunt to find the objects. She was instantly intrigued and excited to see what we were going to make.
Make setting up part of the fun when you use a scavenger hunt!
Our Hungry Turkey Creation
To assemble the turkey, cut one feather out of each color of construction of paper. You’ll also need an orange triangle for the turkey’s beak.
Use a glue gun to stick the feathers on the back of the plastic bottle then glue on the google eyes and the beak, as shown.
At this point, both my girls were jumping for joy! They were so enthusiastic to start playing their turkey fine motor game.
Place some pom poms in a container and add some tweezers. Then have the children use the tweezers to pick up the pom poms and drop them into the bottle.
Gobble, Gobble, Turkey Fine Motor Game
My girls were both laughing and giggling the whole time. They loved this simple turkey fine motor game!
My youngest, who is 3 years old, started placing all the same color pom poms in until they were gone then she would move to a new color.
I loved that she created her own color sorting game – all on her own! Sorting practice is one of our favorite activities.
My oldest, who’s 6 years old, started counting them as she put them in.
Try mixing in more counting fun with a simple dice game!
Pretty soon, I noticed that my big girl was becoming a pro at tweezers. So I threw her for a loop by switching her tweezers for chopsticks!
